Lamborghini SUV Concept for Beijing Show? http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=28

Lamborghini reportedly will unveil a new ultra-luxury utility vehicle, to be called MLC, at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show in April. According to Britain's Auto Express, a three-door SUV concept will be introduces in Beijing that shares its underpinnings with the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, as well as a new Bentley SUV that's due in 2014.

The publication said the Lambo SUV is "almost certainly bound for production in 2015," with a projected price of around $200,000. Italy's Quattroroute published a sketch of what it said was the new Lamborghini SUV. The vehicle in the sketch resembles the stillborn Lamborghini Estoque on steroids.

If approved for production, the Lambo SUV would likely be built on VW's modular MLB architecture. Auto Express said the Lambo would be powered by a front-mounted 584-horsepower version of the Gallardo's 5.2-liter V10. It could also share a high-performance plug-in hybrid powertrain that's being developed by Bentley.

Lamborghini SUV Rendered http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=27

The Italian based automaker Lamborghini is planning to introduce a new model into its lineup in the shape of an SUV, and as the company’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann has already confirmed earlier this year, the “Raging Bull” is ready to offer a third “everyday” model for its future customers.

Even if there aren’t any official details about the upcoming Lamborghini SUV, the crossover is expected to go against the newest model in Maserati’s lineup, the Kubang, which will enter the market in the luxury crossover segment. Rumors say that the upcoming Lamborghini SUV will have a front fascia inspired by the Gallardo, a raked windscreen, a prominent shoulder line, a unique greenhouse, a dual exhaust system and mesh inserts.

The upcoming Lamborghini SUV might be powered by a hybrid powerplant, where the company’s V8 or even V10 engine will be mated to an electric motor, which would lead to low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions along with an impressive performance for a large vehicle.

Get Bitten By Lamborghini’s New Spyder http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=32

Lamborghini’s flirtations with rear-wheel drive started (or, rather, re-started) with the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. Two-wheel-drive Lambos are now a solid part of the Italian automaker’s lineup, with the Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder joining the coupe.

Not since the ultra-rare Diablo SV Roadster appeared in 1998 has Lamborghini built a rear-drive roadster. But unlike the SV, which never saw production, the rear-drive Spyder unveiled at the Los Angeles auto show is not just the real deal, it’s Lambo’s entry-level droptop. We’d first spotted the pre-production version of the two-wheel-drive Spyder a little more than a year ago when spies caught it on the Nürburgring.

Naturally, the new Spyder’s largely the same as its coupe counterpart. The 5.2-liter V10 produces 542 horsepower and, like the coupe, the Spyder’s suspension has been tweaked to suit rear-wheel-drive. The car’s also got some aerodynamics adaptations. The result is a ragtop that does zero to 62 in 4.2 seconds and tops out at 198 mph. The Spyder, like the coupe, also has a 45-percent locking rear differential and stability control that, in Corsa mode, allows more tail-out action.

Unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=31

After teasing us innumerably with plenty of spy shots, Italian super car maker Lamborghini has formally unwrapped the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. The car, as revealed by the countless leaks much ahead of it’s formal unveiling, looks similar to what we had come to expect with the styling borrowing many cues from the Reventon concept. While the Aventador looks very sharp due to it’s pointed front end, it actually is a little rounded than it’s predecessor, the Murcielago.

The supercar is larger than the Murcielago but since it’s entire body shell is made of carbon fiber, it enables the Aventador to be reasonably light at 1575 kilograms as well as strong. The all wheel drive Aventador comes with pushrod suspension up front, harking straight back to the race track. Power, a lot of it though, is produced from the delicious V12 engine that weighs just 235 kilos and which spits out 691 Italian thoroughbreds at a sky high 8,250 rpm.

The engine is mated to an ultra light weight, 79 kilo ISR gearbox which ensures that gearshifts take all of a 50 milliseconds. And that is way faster than any manual shift can ever hope to be. All those stallions allied with 690 Nm of twist will ensure that the Aventador can hit speeds in excess of 300 kph while accelerating furiously past 100 kph even before you can finish reading this sentence!

Paris Motor Show 2010: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=30

While still only a concept, the Sesto Elemento will likely evolve into a future Lamborghini production car. The name, which means "sixth element," refers to carbon -- element six on the periodic table. And there's a lot of that in this car.

Nearly every part of the Sesto Elemento -- including the wheels and suspension -- are made from carbon. As a result, the entire car weighs just 2,200 pounds. With a 570-horsepower V-10 engine, it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2.5 seconds, Lamborghini says.

Paris Motor Show 2010: Lamborghini unveils 199mph 'Blancpain' Gallardo http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=29

Set apart by its vast rear spoiler and engine cover designed for maximum ventilation, the latest Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition is powered by a 562bhp V10 engine good for 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and comes with the marque's all-wheel-drive system.

Marking the success of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series, the new car is nevertheless claimed to offer "one hundred per cent road-going usability". It is equipped with Skorpius wheels with yellow-painted brake callipers and carbon-ceramic brake discs. Externally, the car has matt black paintwork designed to complement the carbon-fibre used to make the mirror casings and front air diffuser. The entire interior is finished in black Alcantara with yellow accents and more carbon fibre, along with the Blancpain logo, in yellow stitching.

"In just its second year, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo has established itself in the premier league of gentleman's racing," said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobil Lamborghini.

Italian purveyor of high-end supercars is working on a hybrid Gallardo http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=21

Following closely in the footsteps of its rival from Maranello, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed in an interview with German Automobilewoche magazine that the Italian purveyor of high-end supercars is working on a hybrid Gallardo. Not surprisingly, the electrically-assisted Bull is expected to hit the market in 2015 – the same year as the upcoming fuel-saving Ferrari.

In contrast to the recently announced fully electric SLS Gullwing from Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini's eco-friendly efforts won't include replacing the traditional gasoline-guzzling powerplant completely. Instead, Winkelmann suggests that a small electric motor would be used solely to get the car moving at low speeds, after which either the expected V10 or V12 engine would kick the fun into high gear.

In somewhat related news, the boys at Inside Line report that both the Gallardo and Murcièlago lines are destined to receive dedicated track-ready Balboni-style rear-wheel drive models to augment the automaker's already amazingly capable all-wheel drive supercars. Could the stage be set for an AWD hybrid with the front wheels electrically powered and the rears via a conventional powertrain?

Lamborghini Club Website Expanding http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=5 Lamborghini Club LA has pulled the trigger on expanding and improving the website. We are excited to be working on the development and implementation of an already popular website. Wed, 01 Apr 2009 00:00:00 -0400 Club News Lambo People vs. Ferrari People http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=9 Now, before we go on, we must say something about these people, particularly what makes them different from Ferrari people and, alas, what makes them different from you and me. Having done a few of these kinds of things before, we’ve observed certain differences between Ferraristi and the Lambo crowd. Our observations are that—sure, we’re generalizing—Ferrari is older money (CEOs, corporate giants, and their smiling, helmet-haired, hardly desperate housewives) while Lambo folks are newer money, often made suddenly: rags-to-riches execs, athletes, dot-com braggarts, and their hot girlfriends. Perhaps the more telling distinction between Ferrari and Lambo people, however, involves motorsports. Ferraristi, as wealthy and powerful as they are, accept the premise that they are mere serfs in Ferrari’s hierarchy, where buckets of money are collected with the primary purpose of sustaining Ferrari’s corporate addiction to F1 racing. Especially outside the States, Ferrari people follow the sport religiously, attend their races, and worship their drivers. Many (if not most) Lamborghini buyers, on the other hand—particularly on these shores—don’t give a hoot about F1. They like fast cars. They like to talk about fast cars, drive fast cars, and drive fast cars fast. They are younger, quite gregarious, and approachable. In short, instead of being establishment types—blue bloods—they are like you and me, only far, far richer. And if they’re into racing at all, it’s because they race cars themselves. Or because they own the team. And for what it’s worth, Lambo people are way better-looking. Tue, 17 Mar 2009 00:00:00 -0400 Lamborghini News Lamborghini planning Reventon Roadster? http://www.lamborghiniclubla.com/news.php?id=10 Lamborghini must be using the same crystal ball as Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne as the Italian automaker maker is tipped to be developing yet another over-the-top supercar. If reports are correct, Lamborghini is readying an open-air version of its F-22-inspired Reventon supercar. The Reventon coupe made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with apparently enough interest in the car for Lamborghini to green light a roadster version. Only 20 Reventon Coupes were ever produced, with even fewer roadsters expected to be made. According to AutoWeek, the Reventon Roadster will use the same powerplant as the recently debuted Lamborghini LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. That means a 670 horsepower 6.5L V12 will be mounted mid-ship, giving the Reventon Roadster a 20 horsepower advantage over its fixed-roof sibling. And, thanks to its shorter production run, expect the Reventon Roadster to retail for even more than the coupe-variant. The original Reventon sold for about $1.6 million, with the roadster version expected to command a few hundred-thousand dollar premium over that price point. This gem of a car is different from its predecessors with its four doors and mid-engine design.. Lamborghini showcased the Estoque at the Paris Motor Show in October to a very happy crowd. It is at once a dedicated sports car and a relaxed Gran Turismo. Spokespersons are touting it as an ideal way to share the Lamborghini experience with more than one person. The four-seater even has room for weekend luggage or golf bags. The Estoque has a long wheelbase which enables a relaxed sporty seating position, and the wide-opening doors allow for easy entrances and exits. But while this particular model takes the design vision to new levels, with its low profile, accentuated wheels, and clean surfaces this car is very, very Lamborghini.
